A Few Great NYC Rooftop Restaurants | Spring/Summer 2022 Guide

A trip to New York City aka the Concrete Jungle especially during summer time means enjoying warm weather + rooftops galore. Rooftop restaurants & bars are great for drinks out on the town with girlfriends, happy hour, or just a nice dinner date with a view!

I visited two of the best rooftops (imo) this past weekend while in New York City for Burna Boy’s concert at Madison Square Garden

Watch the vlog here.

Cloud Social Rooftop

Located a few blocks away from Madison Square Garden, this very central rooftop has much to offer in terms of a vibe, without going over the top - neon signage, cozy corners, and enough seating to not feel so crowded. There were nice places to take pictures, and its located right above a hotel so the lobby area is great for pics too.

Pro’s

  • the drinks are great and they attach a paper airplane to your drink - open it and if it says “free drink” you get a free drink! My friend got one.

  • Location - very close to Times Square & MSG

  • Reservations not required

Con’s

  • the lighting at night is not that great for pics + they barricaded their rooftop with high glass so it might be more difficult to take in the views at night

  • Their menu was nice but limited options - pizza, chips/dip, etc

Most suitable for: date night, drinks with girls, happy hour

Magic Hour Rooftop

A Tiktok fave, this rooftop is aesthetically pleasing and offers both indoor seating & outdoor patio standing. I always love visiting to sit on that gorgeous carousel and take pictures. I also love how well decorated it is. Lastly, their full option drink & food menu (including brunch on saturday & sunday’s -pink pancakes please!) is that magnet that I think keeps people coming back.

Pro’s

  • well decorated with enough seating for a large party

  • Food and drink menu - their drinks are very cute!

  • Located right off Times Square

Cons

  • on busy nights (e.g friday nights) their service may not be the best. I waited a bit for my shrimp tacos - turns out they forgot about it. The waitress ended up giving us shots to compensate.

  • Reservations are required - some weeks they might be booked in advance, so be sure to reserve ahead of time

Most suitable for: drinks with girls, happy hour, brunch spot

The only other rooftop I hope to try next time I’m in NYC is RH Rooftop / it’s hard to find a weekend reservation for this spot as they are normally always fully booked.

What are your favorite rooftops to visit in NYC?
